The artificial knee joint

Clinic for Orthopaedics and Accident Surgery: Knee Department

Especially in the field of endoprosthetics - and thus our practical work on the ward - scientists have made enormous progress in the last 20 years: Today, just as good results are achieved with artificial knee joints as with artificial hip joints.

They reliably restore freedom from pain, ability of the patient to walk and move. "Service lives" of more than 10-15 years are no longer unusual. In addition, new operation and anaesthetic methods guarantee low-pain and low-risk operations as well as a relatively short period of convalescence.

Overview of the individual steps:

The insertion of an artificial knee joint is a complex operation: for this reason, our doctors provide patients with comprehensive, expert information on the preparation, procedure and follow-up care of the operation.
